This microATX blade system is the extension in microATX version of my previous NUC shelf (which was fully 3d printed).
The two parts are designed with OpenSCAD and fully customizable.
We needed to hold microATX motherboards for memory capacity reason and use of AMD ryzen with ECC.
The shelf has 7 servers in 6 rack units.
The board (dxf file) is a laser cut piece from steel sheet (1mm).
What is needed:
- 2U rack bracket (x2 per shelf) - i.e. K&M 28482 19" Rack Tray 2U
- 12 x 3d printed supports (the stl file)
- Epoxy glue
- 7 x laser cut steel board (the dxf file)
- 7 x 9 spacing screws of 4-5mm to hold the microATX board (found on aliexpress)
- Cable ties (8-10mm width) to hold the PSU and disk (if not using nvme/m.2) (found on aliexpress)
- 7 x Switch On/Off/Reset atx (found on aliexpress)
- FlexATX psu (i.e. Seasonic SS-350M1U)
The boards are hold by the two rack bracket on which are simply glued the supports (2 lines). A board is fed in the support notch.
It is ultra low-cost and efficient, an online service for the laser cut steel is roughly 15 $/Euro per board.
