Description
The idea on which we have based our design has been practicability in two fields: First, one should be able to print the model with a Makerbot 3-D printer and second of all the design should be set up on the very planet mars. Using 3D printing technology responds to the limitations of taking heavy material to planet mars and is not opportunistic, but follows the firm belief that the colonization of mars is only possible through robots who arrive before and will make possible human colonization. Any other option would conflict with high the logistical and the transport cost. In addition, and because of experiences on planet earth we know scientifically that the use of mineral materials and components of the ground are a very good isolation for whatever radiation, even the one of termic energy. That is the reason why we have finally opted for a 3D-printing design able to generate shapes with material from mars and without necessity to get material from earth. The 3D print in this case is based on digging and expulsion of powder to the atmosphere of mars and the vitrification of the most superficial layer through the application of a laser of mean potential, benefitting from the abundance of silice and of iron that would help the process thanks to thermic productivity. Moreover we will describe to you the elements that will make up the robot:
- unity of CPU and vertical control of height
- Extractor
- unity of lateral control, bit and laser (3D head printer)
- extraction conduct
- unities of potential (solar panels)
