Descrizione

HI, made this spool organizer to get some order and I think it might be useful to someone else (Hope I´m not the only one with Spool chaos around ;) )

It´s made of 2" pine wood strips and PLA. It can easily hold about 20 1Kg (2 pounds) spools including a space for the small factor spools.

You can combine the pieces to resize it and change layout to fit your needs.
With wood it gets a decent weight that prevents it from turning over and you can also cut a piece of glass to put on top and make a little table.

The BOM for the picture example is:
• 1.2 Kg of PLA filament
• 4 pieces of 2” x 70 cm pine strip
• 6 pieces of 2” x 60 cm pine strip
• 7 pieces of 2” x 13 cm pine strip
• 44 screws (16mm will do fine)

(You may also want to paint the wood strips into black or white, I haven´t done this yet)

As a reference my total printing time was 87 hours (see details in images) and assembly time of half an hour.

You can find the STL files for a inch and half version with my better estimates of what would be the final size after sanding. Still you can get the parts and modify them as you need in https://www.tinkercad.com/things/8e2k6VEhV2t

Hope it´s useful to you and don´t forget to share your makes!!

NOTE: Check the actual size of the wood you get since the sanding process may have altered the 2” expected size.
Then modify the STL to fit the size of your wood strips.
